Fine terracotta body painted with an array of blue underglazes and white slip.
The item is glazed for function, making it safe for food and daily use. Glazes may have some natural variation in colour and surface coverage.
The mug can be put in the microwave and dishwasher, but for the longevity of this one-of-a-kind handmade item considerate use is suggested. Each piece is fired twice; first at a lower temperature to make the clay less fragile for painting & glazing (known as bisque baking). Then to a higher temperature to melt the glaze to the surface (known as a glaze fire).
